2nd edition of Feim Barri, Feim Tradicions in Ibiza
The Councilor for Citizen Participation of the Eivissa City Council, Carmen Boned, accompanied by the president of the Pitiusa Federation of Autonomous Races (FEPIRA), Xavier Prats; and the veterinary of the Pitiusa Federation of Indigenous Breeds (FEPIRA), Sara Vergès, presented on Thursday, January 18, at the Can Tomeu municipal farm, a new edition of the “Feim Barri, Feim Tradicions”. This is the second edition of this activity and it will take place on Saturday, January 27, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in a house located in the neighborhood of Ca n’Escandell.
In this edition, the main novelty will be that different native races of the “Pitiüses” will be announced with the “Pitiusa Federation of Native Races”, specifically goats, sheep, rabbits and pigs. The federation will bring to the Can Tomeu house some races to teach the citizenship about this heritage of our island.
Also as a novelty, there will be a performance of the “Association of Pageses Emprenyades”, who will liven up the day. In addition, 10 baskets will be raffled with ecological Ibicenco product.
Among the activities that will be carried out is a workshop about how to produce te famous “sobrasada” to show the tradicional ways of evaluating it. The workshop will start at 11 am and will allow the participants to take home the sobrasadas that are made by themselves.
At 2:00 pm there will be a meal for all the attendees: a rice slaughter cooked by Felipe as a charity performance of the association Magna Pityusa, who will also take charge of the solidarity bar.
In the morning, from 11am to 1pm, will take place as well workshops of bread making and “orelletes”. At the same time, Colla de Vila will hold a workshop of flute and of the tradicional dance and at 1 pm, a sonada y ballada.
Throughout the day you can also enjoy an handcraft exhibition of the Eines i Feines association, an exhibition of the Ibizan dogs of the Ca eivissenc official breeders Association, an exhibition of traditional car by the association of Carrers de Sant Josep and of a beekeeping exhibition organized by the Association of Beekeepers of Eivissa.
Councilor Carmen Boned explained that “this is an activity to show, teach and share the traditions, which are s part of our identity and we don’t want them to be exclusive to those born and grown in Eivissa, but to everyone who live here and feel the Ibiza in their hearts”
President of FEPIRA, Xavier Prats, highlights that “the task of FEPIRA is, in addition to raising and preserving the native races, promote and disseminate them, since the native races are part of our living heritage.”
