Ibiza Autumn Flavour
The 8th edition of Ibiza Flavour; the Gastronomic Days of Autumn, has arrived and is being celebrated from the 31st of October until the 5th of December.
This year 51 restaurants will be participating, and will all be offering food menus priced at 25 euros, as well as a selection of 7 euro tapas that all include a glass of wine from the local bodegas.
This event; organized by the Ibiza council and PIMEEF, is to bring awareness to local tradition, cultural heritage and native island produce. One of which is the islands olive oil which this year will be recognized and protected by the Protected Geographic Indication: Oli d’Eivissa. This means that from this year onwards, all phases of production, from cultivation to harvest, milling and packaging will be done within the island of Ibiza with a maximum level of standard and quality. Each restaurant will include local olive oils that will be available for purchase for 2 euros.
Nowadays, the island of Ibiza is one of the few places in Spain where the old oil mills have been conserved. These mills are seen as authentic monuments within the old traditional country houses. Some of them are still used to this day to traditionally produce olive oil. It truly is an unusual event as it cannot be found anywhere else on the mainland.
In addition to the available menus on offer you can also participate in other gastro-events revolving Ibizan tradition, such as the sobrasada of Ibiza on Saturday 23rd of November. Or the artisan cheese workshop of Ses Cabretes on Friday 6th of December. For more information about the participating restaurants and more, please click here.
