Eat well with your feet in the sand at Chiringuito Cala Martina Beach.
Although you do not believe it, among many “beach clubs” there is still some chiringuitos in Ibiza, keeping the traditional spirit of beach bar and sit with your feet in the sand doesn’t mean be giving up to enjoying a good dining experience.
We visited the Chiringuito Cala Martina Beach, located in Cala Martina at the east of the island in Santa Eulalia municipy, direction to Es Canar. The chiringuito is a perfect place to relax and eat while you spend the day at the beach, located a few meters from the water and in a quiet and familiar atmosphere that it has nothing to envy the crowded sands of the beaches south of the island.
They have a simple menu, with a careful selection of dishes, and also offer dishes of the day based on the seasonal ingredients which they are counting. In their menu we find salads, vegetarian dishes, meats and fish, with 4 or 5 options in each category, and also have a menu for children’s, perfect for families.
In a secluded area of the main tables they have a chill-out area where you can enjoy some traditional rations along with a cocktail between sunbeds and Balinese beds.
Chef Jesús González Martínez’s cuisine is an author’s cuisine with Mediterranean touches. With the intention of portraying the traditional cuisine of the grandmother in which Jesus has grown up in Euskadi, influenced by the avant-garde of Madrid where he was trained as a chef, creating a fusion of flavors where sauces and oriental touches play a fundamental role in the final result.
We tried the tasting menu, a closed four-dishes menu plus two desserts, where we perfectly appreciate the fusion of flavors from the chef’s cuisine, and that it is generous in terms of quantities without being so heavy. The tasting menu has a price of 26 € per person, a price within reach of all and more if we talk about Ibiza, in front of the beach.
The first course was a tricolor burratina with tomato bed and a sea of basil, perfect to start this menu, the burratina was amazing, very fresh and delicious, it melted in your mouth.
The second course, smoked salmon cannelloni and phyladelphia with cilantro oil and curry mayonnaise. The sauces created a fusion of flavors perfect on the palate, especially highlighting the mayonnaise curry, which it provided a very special and unexpected flavor that combined perfectly with the salmon.
The third dish, octopus with trumpets of death and yellow Aji sauce with coconut. The octopus was delicious, tender and in its point, and the trumpets that are wild mushrooms dehydrated dipped in syrup and fried later, but what surprised us most was the spicy of the sauce that brought a very original touch to the plate.
The fourth dish is one of the most demanded of the restaurant, Iberian pen to port with old mustard sauce and a reduction of entrecot mature. The sauces of the chef it’s the clear distinction, always creating an explosion of flavors in each of his dishes. The meat juicy, tender and tasty, was the perfect end to a set of dishes really unexpected in a beach bar for its quality and nuances.
To finish, for dessert we took a mousse of chocolate and mint, perfect combination along with a few touches of dehydrated raspberry that finish the menu with lot desire to repeat.
Closing the lunch we had an interesting conversation with the chef in which we introduced this Cane trombone, which it was actually a Malibu mousse of mango, a fresh and fruity touch that made us leave pleasantly surprised, with a highly recommended option for those who want to enjoy a good cuisine on the beach without having to be in a fashionable place.
