Mar a Vila, gourmet "tapas" in Ibiza | IbizaFoodie
In the heart of the city we can find the restaurant Mar a Vila. Today we decided to visit this popular place, perfect for “tapas”.
Famous for its great variety of “tapas”, it is a cozy place, with very elaborate skewers and a menu of very original dishes.
Signature cuisine with local products and a very affordable price-quality ratio.
The chef Pablo del Castillo bets on a “rogue kitchen”, full of contrasts and with patties that invite you to get your hands dirty giving your personal touch to each dish.
At the entrance, the decoration imitates an old grocery store where you can find artisan cans both to try at the local and to take home with you.
We begin with the starter of the house: fried Wantun with fresh basil sauce. Crunchy and tasty, perfect to whet your appetite.
Later, they surprise us with a picnic box on the foie table with toast and cranberry fruit and bitter orange jams. The whole bread crusts with raisins and fermented Italian tramezzino. The presentation is very original and the foie mousse melts in your mouth.
We continue with curious black pudding chocolates, coated with almonds and red vermouth with 2 sauces: one of almond and another of apple and chives.
Juego de texturas, presentación y sabores con una gran potencia. Este plato ideal para compartir te permite una vez más usar todos tus sentidos para disfrutarlo.
We came to one of the dishes that we liked the most: octopus with potato revolcona with Joselito ham, Iberian dewlap, chive guacamole and pansy flowers.
The sea and the land merge in a dish full of smells, flavors and notes of color. The curious dishes that accompany each creation are personally chosen to complete each “tapa”.
The menu is very varied and offers alternatives for all allergies and intolerances. In the offer you can also find a variety of DO products such as cheese. You can see the full menu here.
The following dish is one of the classics of the house: Tuna glazed with coffee foam and tempura nori seaweed. A brave combination of apparently very different tastes, that will not leave you indifferent.
To finish with the main dishes, we decided to try the famous Kebab Mar a Vila. Lamb cooked at low temperature, marinated with spices accompanied by an X sauce and coasts similar to tacos.
In this dish we become chefs and we can combine the flavors to our liking.
As a sweet touch, we were offered a selection of the most emblematic desserts. Chocolates mix with red wine ice cream, strawberry clouds with orange biscuit and crunchy of chocolate and banana, the after eight with “Mar A Vila” foam and green apple ice cream.
The menu is full of dishes to share and tries to invite the customers to interact with the food. They also have a daily menu. From Monday to Friday, you can choose between a starter, a second dish, dessert, coffee and a drink for only 15 euros. It varies every day, but if you like the “cocido madrileño” you have a date: every Thursday.
For those who wake up early, they offer a healthy breakfast service with freshly squeezed juices. Mar a VIla is undoubtedly one of the busiest places in the center of Ibiza with options for all tastes. Lastly, I would like to highlight its service, made up of people with great public attention skills, who love their work and take care of each client as if they were the only one.
