The poke bowl has become Instagram’s foodie trend with more than 300,000 publications. It’s a salad of Hawaiian origin of humble origin, since it was born from the need of the fishermen to eat something fast. After having conquered the United States, the poke bowl arrives in Spain and is frequently found in restaurants and supermarkets.
It’s a salad of raw marinated fish; tuna, salmon or octopus on a base of rice or quinoa combined with fresh ingredients such as vegetables, fruits, wakame, seaweed, avocado and a host of different dressings.
Although an original poke bowl would never carry meat, some of the ingredients have been modified and you can substitute raw fish for chicken, prawns or even tofu. It is a plate full of possibilities, and it is that it admits as many combinations as you wish.
Its preparation does not require a great effort. It is a bowl in which the base is composed of rice or quinoa and you just have to add the ingredients cut into slices so that everything is “nice”.
Its fame is due to the high nutritional value, most of its basic ingredients such as quinoa, avocado or rice are considered “superfoods”. This combination gives us proteins, fiber, minerals and essential fatty acids.
